We are looking to rent out our much-loved 4+ BR / 3 bath family home, for academic year 2024-5 (and possibly longer), since my husband has taken an academic position up in NYC. This is a fully-furnished, 1950s-era, mid-century modern house with enough bedrooms for a family of 4-5 plus a couple of dedicated study rooms. The house is mostly on one level but also has a 600 foot basement area with a bedroom, a bathroom, a living room and kitchenette (perfect for stashing a teenager, an au pair, or any visitors). We’re a five-minute drive from UNC campus, an easy drive to RTP, and also fully set up with a home office. This is the perfect location for anyone coming to Chapel Hill with a family: we’re in a small, friendly, quiet, 20-home neighborhood with lots of other kids and dogs; the house has a big yard and is located in lots of open woods and trails; there is a hard-surface lot for basketball, scooters etc. right next door; we’re a five minute walk from the local school, and the school buses stop right outside. There’s a grill and dining table in the front yard, a firepit and heat lamp out back, plus a small screened in porch for when it rains. We’ll be leaving bedding and linens, a huge, modern kitchen fully stocked with utensils, lots and lots of books and art, and there’s also a piano and two guitars here. We might also be able to arrange usage of our car. As someone who has moved internationally for work twice, I know how hard it can be to find somewhere that is set up and ready to use during a sabbatical: this is that place. It’s a lovely space and we’d be happy to do FaceTime tours for anyone wanting more information. Drop me a line!

Comments: We are relocating to NYC for a job at Columbia University; we would love to try to rent for one academic year and then take it from there - prepared to rent for longer term if everything works out.
